Purpose and Scope: 

The Analyst, Transport Development supports and manages systems used by transport teams.  The objective of this analyst is to enhance transportation systems to further align with business needs.  Responsibilities include gathering requirements, designing, developing and implementing new or enhanced solutions. The Analyst, Transport Development will be the transport lead for transport related technical projects, managing projects from start to finish. Included in the role is the management of data integration and maintaining data quality with different service providers.

 
Key Responsibilities:
  • As an Analyst, Transport Development responsibilities and typical activities will include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Be a subject matter expert in a transport managed systems.
    • Provide support for all issues related transport system (s) and its functions.
    • Identify core issues with system(s) and address by providing advanced technical solutions.
    • Capture enhancements opportunities to improve systems process.
    • Perform process improvement analysis and initiatives.
    • Perform cost/benefit analysis and present multiple alternative scenarios.
    • Identify improvement/savings opportunities within functioning processes.
    • Provide expert knowledge in support of transportation management.
    • Identify methods and areas to improve service, reduce freight costs, and streamline processes.
    • Design and develop solutions that can be effectively managed by individuals with operational skill sets
    • Manage projects related to transport system for supporting all new RL transport initiatives
    • Identify and manage resources involved in a project and cost changes.

Requirements:

     

Knowledge and/or Key Competencies preferred:


  • Knowledge of Lean/Six sigma, certifications a plus.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical including data mining and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated decision making skills.
  • Demonstrated follow up skills.
  • Able to discern needs from request and provide functional deliveries.
  • Ability to surface issues and drive to resolution.
  • Advanced competency in Excel, Access and other desk top software.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and provide guidance to business partners that have English as second language.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects.

  • Must be able to work over 40 hours per week as the business volume demands

  • Ability to train others on details and effectively cross train in other logistics roles
  • Able to respond same day to requests submitted by business partners

Education and experience preferred:


  • Bachelor’s Degree; project management certification and or experience a plus

     

    Description of Work Conditions:

    Work primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Sedentary, sitting, walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use.

    Travel Required: Travel as required
