Position Summary:  

Assist Category Buyer in development of seasonal ranges that are brought to market within desired timescales, meet or exceed both sales and Gross Margin targets whilst maintaining brand integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

1.  Critical Path and delivery management of stock flow from source to DC

  • Managing critical path with all receipt information of stock from multiple sources.
  • Support BAA to track shipments to DC to ensure timely delivery and communicating any changes to mode of freight to all business partners concerned.
  • Co-ordinate all aspects of Purchase Order (PO) management incorporating liaison with BAA for PO entry and revisions.
  • Follow through end to end process & enter projections into GFE+ system

2.  Assortment Co-ordination and Range Building

  • Create and update seasonal assortment sheets that incorporate all relevant product delivery and store ranging information.
  • Organise, manage and source all product samples by seasonal range for both Inherited Inventory and Production, to ensure visual interpretation of range including the use of display boards.
  • Gather required assortment information to and from production partners and or vendors to ensure delivery deadlines and cost price requirements are met. 
  • Compile historical sales analysis to provide the foundation and direction to support the Buyer in the development of seasonal strategies.
  • Co-ordinate at the early stages of range building, with Factory Outlets America and or Wholesale to ensure full range of information is obtained.
  • Build relationship and liaise with colleagues in Full Price and Wholesale to obtain most recent sales, pricing and trend information.
  • Build and develop strong understanding of Polo Brand and the Outlet customer, through competitive shopping and store visits.

3.  Providing strong level of accurate communication to relevant business partners. 

  • Communicating markdown requirements to Buyers Admin Assistant within set deadline for system input.
  • Collaboration with Brand Presentation (VM) team to shape buys and build seasonal strategies
  • Assist stores with required product information to enable colleagues in stores to sell with confidence and provide customers with a high level of service.
  • Manage relationship between Factory Outlets America to ensure easy flow of updated information, if applicable. 
  • Sharing best practices with colleagues to ensure consistency of information across the business.

4. Managing Weekly Trade for business area

  • Taking ownership for designated area and follow up on all actions
  • Review weekly trade reports and advise actions to drive trade
  • Provide seasonal lessons learnt in line with buy review

  • Proficient in Retail Maths

    Relevant experience in a Buying Office, with a recognized retailer

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify commercial opportunities based on analysis provided.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented accurate

  • Computer proficient in Excel, Word and familiar with basic principles of merchandising systems.
  • Good communication both upward to senior management and laterally to business partners both internal and external.
  • High level of presentation skills.
  • Trend and market awareness
