Purpose and Scope:To assist in managing all of the fabric research and development through the pre-production process for the Ralph Lauren Dress brands under the direction of the Director and VP Fabric R+D. To gain a full understanding of the seasonal line plans, working closely with the time and actions calendars and how they relate to all sourcing and developing and manufacturing of new fabrics, prints and novelty through to production.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Attend status, costing and post market meetings. Also required to attend Print and Design Concept meetings when necessary.

·         Schedule and set up and attend all fabric appointments and trend presentations. Greeting and bring vendors to fabric studio. Prepare them for presentation.

·         Initiate and maintain SAP VCP packets to all vendors.

·         Follow up, track and receive all selections of headers and swatch cards chosen from vendors and prepare for review with design teams.

·         Order, chase and receive all new fabrics for tailoring chosen by Design. Initiate seasonal tailoring trackers, mill cards and update with all fabric details and input in Excel on the Dress share drive.

·         Tag ALL tailoring yardages received with ALL fabric details by season brand. Store neatly on shelves by season brand until needed.

·         Initiate garment fabric testing process by keeping records and books of proto sheets of all styles that are requested.

·         Work close with brand fabric Director and stay abreast of all adopted fabrics. Ensure seamless turnover to fabric teams (Colorist) for adoption to lines to prepare for dipping and ordering of sales sample yardage.

·         Initiate, monitor and maintain seasonal fabric trackers, keeping all documenting accurate status of all fabric.

·         Order, track and receive all ssy and fit yardages, shipping to proper locations, factories, LIC, and NY.

·         Keep fabric library extremely organized and up to date, cleansing and getting rid of outdated references not needed seasonally. Organize all headers by content, novelty and color where applicable.

·         Input both sample and bulk prices in system to Tailoring tracker maintaining  target budget and provide monthly expenses to Director.

·         Code all tailoring invoices for approval for Lauren brands.

·          Partner with Design and Design Development to have real time awareness of fabric adoptions to the lines and react accordingly

·         Research and maintain raw material Production mill cards for Lauren Dress, Lauren Evening and all off price dress brands for wovens knits and yarns.

·         Develop and maintain Raw Material spreadsheet prior to advent of FlexPLM

·         Partner with DD and prepare and present fabric information prior to seasonal costing meetings

·         Analyze and communicate potential fabric issues to Design and Production pre-market.

·         Communicate with mills and agents to insure accurate fabric information, optimal lead times, and other fabric criteria.


·         Degree in Textile Design

·         Strong understanding of fabric with a specific understanding of the Ralph Lauren aesthetic.

·         Ability to establish relationships with team members and Mills.

·         Ability to work well under pressure and multi task.

·         Strong Computer Skills. (Excel, Photo shop and Illustrator).
