Brahmin Leather Works

The term Brahmin was coined by Dr. Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr. in an 1860's article to describe a harmless, inoffensive, untitled New England aristocrat. By the late 1800's, Boston Brahmin referred to a cultured socialite from an established upper-class family. In 1982, Bill and Joan Martin founded Brahmin Leather Works, Inc. with aspiration of making a handbag that even a "Brahmin" would be proud to own.

In 1996, after outgrowing two subsequent locations, we settled into our present headquarters in Fairhaven, MA, complete with a state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. Today, more than 20 years after our founding, Brahmin Leather Works continues to manufacturer beautiful handbags while adhering to our overarching principles: A commitment to customer service; a dedication to superior product quality; and a promise to meld classic design with style, function, and durability.
