Purpose and ScopeOversee the design process of Men’s Woven Shirts for Polo Dress Shirts, Purple Label Dress Shirts, and Purple Label Sport Shirts, while maintaining the aesthetic integrity of Ralph Lauren and balancing the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the creative direction for the woven shirt lines for Polo Dress Shirts, Purple Label Dress Shirts, and Purple Label Sport Shirts
  • Partner with SVP to identify key woven shirt trends, fabric and finish direction, pattern direction, model and trim research and wash direction for all brands
  • Support the concept teams with developing design protos and fabric blankets for seasonal concept rigs
  • Research vintage archives, textile libraries, and competitors as a way to develop new ideas for fabric, pattern, and model inspiration
  • Design new and exciting pattern work in a variety of fabrications that drive newness and support the seasonal concepts and business strategies
  • Design seasonal shirt lines that meet the merchandising global line plan objectives for SKU count, price tiering, and margin goals
  • Lead the design team in managing all phases of the design process to meet calendar deadlines and milestones
  • Oversee all color, fabric, wash, and embroidery  approvals
  • Lead technical design team in the development of new models, design details, and weekly design fittings
  • Direct the Fabric and Product Development teams in the execution of the woven shirt lines
  • Work upfront with mills, factories, and laundries on research and development of innovative fabric, model, and wash development
  • Research woven shirt market to identify competitors and price points
  • Travel to Europe and/or Asia for seasonal blanket and research trips
  • Manage the travel and proto budget for the design team


  • 8 Years+ Woven Shirt Design Experience
  • Experience researching and developing pattern work and fabrics with mills throughout the world
  • College Graduate
  • Strong communication skills
  • Sketching and creative skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Power Word and Outlook
