Position Purpose and Scope

Technical Expert in all footwear construction types.   Provide leadership in defining and executing standards.  Support product/ construction definition and approvals that help to achieve division goals of margin, quality and on time delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Develop and Identify synergy across brands, overseas offices and departments.   Support and create best practices.

  • Coach and guide managers, on board new hires and train new team members on functional tasks.  Report staffing and organizational needs to management.

  • Strategic understanding of brand and division goals.  Ability to support brand and division goals through development of new strategies and executing against them.

  • Source new factories and suppliers as needed.

  • Define fit, performance and quality standards by Brand/ Category.   Execute from Proto stage through final fit approval, and validate in production as needed. 

  • Ability to understand, analyze and approve last, patterns, components, and assembly, in order to create technically sound footwear.

  • Diagnose and correct issues at development onset that may interfere with quality, fit or compromise deadlines. 

  • Knowledge of mold making including Blue Print approval, across a variety of compounds and mold types. 

  • Understand grading principles and apply to fitting across size scale options. 

  • Fluency in global size scales and width options.

  • Knowledge of laboratory measured performance standards across industry, according to product end use expectation.

  • Work with design to achieve aesthetic within brand standard technical parameters

  • Source, Execute, Industrialize components.

  • Develop seasonal pre-production milestone calendar.   Drive self and partner departments to maintain schedule in order to produce quality product on time that meets design and business objectives.  Involve management when delays jeopardize timely milestone achievements. 

  • Manage WIP fit and commercialization milestones and report status.

  • Onboard suppliers.  Educate vendors in RL technical standards, expectations and process

  • Travel to Vendors to manage execution as needed.

  • Keep abreast of innovation in compounds and manufacturing, and apply knowledge toward continuous improvement

  • Maintain technical details of styles and components in production

  • Provide required documentation, standards and samples to QA as foundation for audits

  • Supervise transfer pack process and timeline and insure product/quality match.  Partner with overseas commercialization team. 



·         Manage and maintain model measurement roster.

·         Manage and maintain wear tester measurement roster.

·         Manage wear testing process and approvals.

·         Manage fit related HIT list styles.

·         Evaluate production as needed.

·         10 years technical experience

·         Certification in  Pattern Making, Modelista, or Technical Development from    Ars Sutoria , Cordwainers, Senai , and Savannah College, or equivalent preferred.
