KNIT TECHNICAL DESIGNER (KTD)

 

JOB DESCRIPTION OBJECTIVE:

We are a private label company based in NYC working with famous brands worldwide. We are looking for somebody who has a background in sweater knitting (accessories or apparel), yarn and fabric materials. He/She is responsible for the product uniformity and consistency on the fit, quality and construction of each brand that we work with. The technical designer will interface with Product Development Merchandisers, Production and overseas teams ensuring that the product is consistent with each brand and production timelines are met. Willing to travel domestic and international.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collaborate with Product Development in translating the design sheets to technical packs, while giving suggestions on how to produce the product in the highest quality and market competitive price.
  2. Create, maintain and update technical packs and BOM’s for all brands and in all product stages (Proto, PPS, TOP, etc) in our internal PLM system.
  3. Reviews and approves the fit, trim components and construction of the item within the development and production timeline.
  4. Communicate with PD and Production team on the review and approval of the samples.
  5. Helps in product design and technical research as required by the company.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. 3+ years in apparel or accessories industry in technical design.
  2. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite program.
  3. Background in 3D design system is a plus, but not required.
  4. Knowledge of fibers, yarns, knitting and cut and sewn.
  5. Ability to spec the products, read the fit and make corrections if necessary.
  6. Proactive on problem solving and resolution oriented.
  7. Product risk assessment skills.
  8. Accountable to follow through on a task from beginning to end.
  9. Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
  10. Ability to multi-task, self-manage and work independently.
  11. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  12. Proficient in computer skills including Excel, AI and Photoshop. Will be trained in our internal PLM system.
