COMPANY: Echo Design, Inc.

Echo Design is a New York City based, industry leader in the design, marketing and distribution of fashion and home accessories. Our products range from scarfs and wraps, cold weather mufflers, hats and gloves, swimwear, beach cover-ups, and fabric handbags to a full line of licensed home products including bedding, bath, window, fabrics, rugs, wallpaper, and dinnerware.

We are seeking a SENIOR COLD WEATHER DESIGNER to design, color and merchandise the glove, hat, outerwear cold weather lines from conceptual stage through final protos.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Keep abreast of fashion trends through fashion services, and other sources, understanding brand appropriate trends, color and product stories; along with Design Director, develop trend boards for seasonal Cold Weather accessories presentations

  • Under the direction of the Design Director, establish seasonal concepts, color and product direction; select designs to support merchandising plan for each concept and product line

  • Meet with studios and purchase original artwork as needed, preparing required artwork documentation

  • Collaborate with vendors and resources to develop new fabrications, trims, and/or novelties as they

    relates to product lines securing all pertinent information i.e. price, minimum, delivery dates    

  • Present concepts/artwork/samples to the team for approval and effectively deliver design presentations to internal team as well as retail partners

  • Develop knitwear and woven designs including fabric, color and trim, developing layouts and detailed technical packets with all necessary specifications to send to the mills

  • Enter design information into the PLM system, updating as required; collaborate with Product Managers on pricing & development

  • Communicate continually with mills to follow up on questions and progress of each design

  • Review strike-offs/sales-samples and make any corrections prior to presenting internally or externally; communicate any changes directly to the mills, updating PLM and vendor communication notes as needed

  • Present completed samples (including original art, layout, and colorways) to Managing Director and Design Director for final approval

  • Collaborate with Creative Services and Design Director to create and edit look book for each season

  • Present line to sales team prior to markets

  • Prepare and maintain budget and voucher all expenses incurred

  • Travel to vendors and design events as needed

 

 

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Design with a concentration in knitting and weaving

  • 5+ years of design experience focused on knitwear, Cold Weather accessories

  • Deep knowledge of yarns, fabric qualities; skilled at developing detailed technical sketches and specs

  • Strong sense of color; Excellent artistic/drawing skills with a high level of creativity

  • Proficient in Adobe Suite; Kaledo a plus

  • Ability to render artwork digitally in a variety of techniques and styles

  • Strong communication, presentation, organization and team skills
