MUJI USA seeks a Manager of Inventory and Store Allocation, to support our Allocation team. This role manages sales and inventory plans from investment through allocation at the product level for MUJI stores in US. The Manager is responsible for ensuring that the development and management of assortment, demand and inventory plans achieve financial goals of the company.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Recommend strategies for inventory balancing and forecasting optimization
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders on pre-season and in-season allocation strategies
  • Set expectations for initial flow and replenishment that support financial goals
  • Identify operational and financial impact with warehouse, stores, and flow forecast. Forecast flow of inventory and communicate impact with cross functional business partners.
  • Collaborate with General Manager of Merchandising to ensure proper overall store inventory levels based on store capacity, seasonality and selling curves
  • Effectively partner with field leadership
  • Conduct periodic reviews to ensure stock levels are in line with current and future sales trends
  • Proactively identify and communicate constraints in delivering business goals, short-term and long-term
  • Recommend changes and/or enhancements to the current procedures and systems for the allocation and replenishment functions
  • Perform regular store visits in order to understand visual impact of inventory positioning
  • Plan a balanced assortment by department, class, style and color while maintaining the proper mix of inventory in each store
  • Analyze and react to individual store performance to identify store sales trends to better flow merchandise to stores
  • Allocate/replenish stores daily by monitoring store sales, inventory and sell through by style, color and size and initiating store to store transfers
  • Analyze selling by store on a seasonal basis to affect allocations and recommend future purchases
  • Allocate product based on store plans, profiles and merchandise assortment for new store openings
  • Visit stores weekly and review stock condition
  • Work with the Sales and Visual teams to execute assortments for individual stores
  • Create bi-weekly promotion plans
  • Communicate with stores regarding merchandise strategies such as seasonal product launches/new arrivals
  • Manage Allocation team by creating a collaborative and results-oriented environment
  • Support the career and skill development of Allocation team to ensure job satisfaction, retention and future talent development

  • Ability to think objectively and interpret meaningful themes from quantitative and qualitative data
  • Problem Solving & Decision Quality:  Able to use rigorous logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions
  • Collaboration:  Able to build constructive and effective relationships with cross functional partners in a highly collaborative environment
  • Financial and Business Acumen:  Ability to evaluate financial and business indicators and translate data into actionable information to drive results
  • Systems and Tools Acumen:  Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and have aptitude to learn technical applications quickly
  • Process Management:  Able to create and organize work and processes to get things done in the most efficient manner
  • Flexibility: Able to react to changing responsibilities
  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills
